Tigard, Oregon – The Tigard Police Department has announced charges against 32-year-old Cristian Serrano-Martinez following a disturbing incident involving a young girl.
According to a TPD statement, a teenage girl reported a concerning interaction with a man on the Fanno Creek Trail this morning. The 16-year-old girl told police that she had missed her bus for school and was walking to campus along the trail behind her apartment around 9 a.m.
The girl was reportedly approached by a man who did not speak English and used Google Translate to communicate. According to TPD, the girl reported that the man said he had weed and asked if she wanted to go to his apartment to smoke and drink.
The girl said no. The man reportedly asked if she wanted to go deeper into the woods. The girl again said no. They walked the trail until they reached the Tigard Public Library. The girl reported that the man said he wanted to meet with her after school.
The girl went inside and reported the incident to library staff who called police. TPD says officers spoke to the girl and her caregivers before she was returned home safely.
TPD says the suspect was found along the trail between City Hall and Universal Plaza. 32-year-old Cristian Serrano-Martinez was charged with felony distribution of a controlled substance to a minor.
