Bexar County Sheriff’s Office arrests woman for fatal shooting of common law husband

Bexar County, Texas – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a murder suspect. According to BCSO, deputies carried out a welfare check on a victim at the request of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office on December 23, 2024.

In a statement, BCSO said that responding deputies found the victim deceased in a closet with a gunshot wound to the face.

The investigation allegedly determined that CCSO deputies were responding to a vehicle fire in Port O’Connor where a 2024 GMC pickup was heavily damaged.

Authorities say a witness reported seeing a woman extinguishing herself nearly. BCSO says the woman, Faith P. Goynes, was later found paddling away in a kayak.

She was allegedly in possession of the victim’s ID and had severe burns on her hand. Authorities say Goynes was brought back to the truck and it was determined that the vehicle belonged to the victim.

BCSO said in a statement that Goynes confessed to shooting the victim, taking his truck, and setting the truck on fire. On January 16, 2025, Goynes was extradited to Bexar County on a warrant for Murder.
