Marion County, Florida – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of 33-year-old Dontay Prophet on a warrant for Lewd and Lascivious Molestation on a Victim Younger than 12 Years of Age.

According to an MCSO statement, Major Crimes Detective Annemarie Larocque began an investigation into a report of a sexual assault that occurred sometime between December 2012 and December 2014.

Authorities said in a statement that the victim disclosed that Prophet molested him while staying at his home. The victim reportedly provided a detailed recollection of the molestation and other information that was allegedly corroborated by the investigation.

It is alleged that Prophet molested the victim for an extended period during the encounter and told the victim not to tell anyone. Prophet was arrested during a court appearance for Child Abuse charges that occurred at a local private school.

He is being held in the Marion County Jail without bond. MCSO says similar allegations were made against Prophet in 2015. Since then, he has been employed in fields that allowed him to have access to children.

Authorities allege that the investigation determined he engaged in grooming behaviors. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective Larocque at 352-369-6805.
