The Knoxville Police Department is investigating the carjacking of a U.S. Postal Service Carrier. According to a social media post from the KPD, it is investigating after a postal service worker was carjacked on Wednesday morning. Just after 10 AM on December 6, 2023, KPD officers responded to a report of a carjacking that occurred in the 2200 block of Dandridge Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers spoke to a USPS driver who reported he was held at gunpoint by two unidentified men. One suspect fled in the USPS truck while the other drove away in a white Toyota. Around an hour later, officers found the stolen USPS truck and one of the suspects in a vacant lot on Cityview Avenue.
The armed suspect fled from officers who lost sight of him in the Chester Avenue area. The white Toyota vehicle was later found abandoned on Cityview Avenue. The second suspect had already left the scene. Authorities believe he may have fled into the area of Walter P.
KPD say efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspects who are described as black males wearing masks. The mail carrier was not injured during the incident.
