Puyallup Police arrest 45-year-old woman for attempted kidnapping of 3-year-old at Good Samaritan Hospital

The Puyallup Police Department announced the arrest of a 45-year-old woman in connection to an attempted kidnapping on Monday. According to PPD, officers responded to a reported attempted kidnapping in the emergency department lobby at Good Samaritan Hospital at 401 15th Avenue Southeast around 1:17 p.m. on December 9, 2024.

Police say officers arrived at the scene and found that the suspect, a 45-year-old woman, had been detained by hospital security. Witness accounts suggest that a 3-year-old victim was sitting in the emergency department waiting room with her mother when the suspect abruptly picked her up and began walking away with her, according to PPD.

The mother, a friend, hospital security, and other staff intervened. Police say the suspect refused to break her grip until multiple people were involved and freed the child. The three-year-old female victim suffered minor injuries.

The suspect was booked into the Pierce County Jail for Kidnapping 2nd Degree.
