The Lexington Police Department has announced the arrests of 21-year-old Brian Marquez Chavez and 18-year-old Kevin Marquez Chavez in connection to a homicide and shooting on Betsy Lane.

LPD says the men were arrested on December 3, 2024 by the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. Both are charged with Murder, Attempted Murder, twenty counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, and Criminal Mischief 1st Degree.

The men are being held at the Okeechobee County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Fayette County. LPD says its officers responded to the 300 block of Betsy Lane for a shooting around 1:06 a.m. on September 8.

Police say they found a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The female victim was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased. A male victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
