Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot at Breckenridge Village

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post that one of its deputies was shot while responding to a call of a mentally disturbed individual armed with a gun.

According to RCSO, deputies responded to the call at Breckenridge Village in Bolt around 9 a.m. on November 29, 2024. RCSO says the deputy was immediately fired upon after reaching the scene.

The deputy suffered a gunshot wound, but returned fire and fatally struck the suspect. The injured deputy was taken to an area hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The investigation is being handled by RCSO’s Detective Bureau and the West Virginia State Police.
