Calgary Police say they have arrested a man in connection to two sexual assaults that occurred while victims were on or waiting for a Calgary Transit bus.
According to police, a woman attended the front counter of a district office to report a sexual assault on July 12, 2024. Police believe the victim was riding a Calgary Transit bus with only one other passenger. The man approached her from behind and groped her, according to police.
Calgary Police say the victim confronted the man, changed seats, and exited the bus at her stop. On October 10, 2024, a woman was sexually assaulted while waiting for her bus at the Rundle C Train Station.
Police say an unknown man started a conversation with her and invited her to sit next to him while they waited. When the woman sat next to the man, he allegedly touched her in a non-consensual manner.
Police say the woman told the man to stop and boarded the next available bus. 72-year-old Ghulam Karami is charged with two counts of Sexual Assault.
