The Garner Police Department said in a social media post that it had arrested a suspect in connection to a fatal shooting on Tuesday night.

According to GPD, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2000 block of Isner Lane around 9:53 p.m. on November 26, 2024.

Police found a deceased male with an apparent gunshot wound. At the time, police confirmed that a person of interest was being detained.

On November 27, GPD provided an update saying that 37-year-old Tyika Lashon Johnson had been arrested for the murder of 44-year-old Steafan Winston Jr.

Police believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute between Johnson and Winston.
