Santa Fe Police arrest two suspects in Tuesday morning shooting

The Santa Fe Police Department announced in a social media post that it had made two arrests in connection to an early Tuesday shooting.

SFPD reports that its officers responded to the Presbyterian Hospital at 4801 Beckner Road for a report of a shooting around 2:40 a.m. on November 26, 2024.

Police say it was determined that the shooting took place in the area of the 3200 block of Cerrillos Road. SFPD confirms officers found the possible location where the shooting occurred.

Pedestrians reported the sounds of gunshots but were unable to determine where they originated from or when they occurred. Police say the victim was identified as a 48-year-old man from Glorieta, New Mexico.

The victim is reportedly in stable condition. According to SFPD, the suspects were said to be wearing face coverings and ballistic-type vests while armed with assault-style rifles.

SFPD has identified the suspects as 21-year-old Jair Rascon-Chavez and 22-year-old Luis Adrian Garcia.

Both are charged with Attempt to Commit a Felony, to wit: First Degree Murder, two counts of Aggravated Assault (Deadly Weapon), Shooting at or From a Motor Vehicle (Great Bodily Harm), and Negligent Use of a Deadly Weapon (Discharge).
