The Lynchburg Police Department says it is investigating an embezzlement case involving the Lynchburg Progressive Firefighters Associations.
LPD reports that it received a report regarding possible embezzlement involving a city employee on November 15, 2024. According to LPD, it initiated an investigation that uncovered evidence of recurring embezzlement activities related to the Lynchburg Progressive Firefighters Association, which is a local non-profit.
LPD says no city funds are associated with LPFA. Authorities say a Lynchburg Fire Department employee, Shaquita Ford, has been charged with embezzlement and computer fraud.
It is alleged that Ford misappropriated funds and utilized computer systems in the process. Ford has been placed on administrative leave.
