The Fort Smith Police Department has announced the arrest of 39-year-old Fausto Leon-Morales in connection to a serious hit-and-run incident on Sunday.

FSPD reports that the victim was transported to a hospital out of the area and is reported to be in stable condition with serious injuries requiring surgery.

Authorities say Leon-Morales was interviewed before being taken to the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center where he is being held with no bond.

He is facing charges of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. No other details are available at this time.
