Detectives with the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant to arrest a 32-year-old Columbine Chateau worker for the death of an elderly female resident. Tyshae Carbajal has been charged with multiple crimes against an at-risk adult, negligent death of an at-risk adult, and negligent serious bodily injury of an at-risk adult.
Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 728 E. Springmont Drive in Pueblo West on June 29, to investigate a death of a resident. An investigator with the coroner’s office discovered unusual circumstances associated with the resident’s death.
On June 19, 2023, CCTV footage inside the facility revealed that Carbajal caused an injury to the female victim’s hip and leg. While aware of the injury, Carbajal did not seek proper medical treatment for the victim. The injury went unreported.
An autopsy linked the injury to the victim’s death.
The victim has been identified as 74-year-old Marie Bayer.
Carbajal has been remanded to the Pueblo County Jail.
