Tracy Police arrest man for shooting at victims with BB gun because of their race

The Tracy Police Department says it has arrested 38-year-old Leonardo Cabral for Assault With a Deadly Weapon Other Than a Firearm and Violate Civil Rights by Force or Threat of Force.

Police say officers responded to a report of two gardeners who had been shot with a BB gun in the 1100 block of Dominique Drive around 1 p.m. on November 18, 2024.

TPD says it found two male victims who had suffered injuries but did not require medical attention. Police believe the victims were targeted because of their race.

According to Tracy Police, officers were led to a residence across the street where the man with the alleged BB gun had retreated. Authorities claim 38-year-old Leonardo Cabral of Tracy was responsible and fled into the residence.

Police also say that Cabral had a felony warrant for Assault With a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer. Cabral was eventually arrested and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
