Juneau Police arrest suspect in death of 1-month-old infant

The Juneau Police Department reports that it has arrested a suspect in connection to the death of a 1-month-old infant. JPD says its officers and CCFR members responded to a hotel room in the 2200 block of Trout Street for a report that a 1-month-old infant wasn’t breathing around 5:35 p.m. on April 15, 2024.

Authorities say the infant was transported to BRH for continued medical treatment. Police say they found 44-year-old James White and three female children between the ages of two and 12.

Police say the infant was pronounced deceased at the hospital and was determined to have suffered significant physical injuries to the head. An autopsy determined that the child died due to blunt force injury to the head and the manner was classified as a homicide.

JPD says it arrested James White on a charge of Murder in the 2nd Degree following a seven-month-long investigation. White was previously lodged at the jail for a domestic violence assault.
