Livingston sex offender arrested for alleged sexual assault of a minor

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a sex registrant accused of sexually assaulting a minor. SCSO says it began investigating a report of a kidnapping and violent sexual assault of a 16-year-old on November 12, 2024.

Police say that 36-year-old Edgar Perez Medina allegedly created a fictitious online social media profile while posing as an 18-year-old male on November 9, 2024.

He allegedly began communicating with the minor and made plans to meet her at a location in South Stanislaus County the following day, according to authorities.

Police say Medina met with the minor near her residence and demanded she get into his car. Medina is accused of driving the victim to a secluded orchard where he violently sexually assaulted her.

Following the attack, police say Medina drove the victim into the city limits of Turlock where he dropped her off. SVU detectives say Medina is a 290 PC sexual registrant out of Merced County for a crime against a child of which he was convicted in 2017.

Police also carried out a search warrant at his residence in Livingston and seized evidence. SCSO alleges that Medina was in possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.

He is charged with five counts of Kidnapping With intent to Commit Robbery, Rape, Oral Copulation, or Sodomy, Communicating with a Minor with Intent to Commit Sex Acts, Arranging a Meeting with a Minor to Commit Sex Acts, and Possession of Child Pornography.

Medina is currently being held on $4.8 million bail.
