The Sumter Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured a 28-year-old driver. SPD reports that the shots were fired into a moving vehicle and struck the driver.
Police say officers responded to a call of shots fired around 2:45 p.m. near the intersection of Liberty Street and Purdy Street.
SPD says both vehicles were traveling west on Liberty Street when shots were fired from one vehicle into an adjacent vehicle. A 28-year-old victim was taken to an area hospital and is expected to recover, according to police.
