Three male juveniles have been arrested for a physical assault at 50 E. 5^th Avenue, Central Park. San Mateo police responded to the above area on December 3, 2023, at 7:29 p.m. to investigate a report of an assault. Responding officers made contact with a male suffering from facial, body, and head injuries.

The male victim allegedly intervened in a possible fight when multiple teens shoved him to the ground and started stomping, punching, and kicking him. The suspects allegedly took the victim’s phone when he attempted to utilize it to call authorities. The victim was taken to an area trauma center for treatment of his injuries.

Officers apprehended three teens in the area. Another teen got away. The victim’s statements were confirmed by witnesses. The three teens were positively identified as the individuals responsible for the assault. Witnesses stated that juveniles and an individual on a bicycle were in an altercation when the victim intervened. The entire group of teens was determined to participate in the beating.

The subjects were later connected to an alcohol theft at Walgreens. After medical clearance, the teens were booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Hall on one count of battery with serious bodily injury and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury.
