Salt Lake City Police investigating aggravated assault at old Motel 6

Update – The Salt Lake City Police Department has announced an arrest in connection to this stabbing incident. SLCPD reports that SLC911 received information about a man stabbed at a motel at 176 West 600 South.

The male victim was taken to an area hospital in stable condition. Police believe that the suspect, Carl Henry, and the victim, a motel employee, got into an argument after their dogs started fighting.

The victim reportedly told police he attempted to separate the two fighting dogs and Henry did not attempt to intervene.

Salt Lake City Police say Henry stabbed the victim’s dog and the victim multiple times. He is also accused of stabbing his own dog in the neck. Following the incident, Henry reportedly fled from the scene.

Around 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, police learned that Henry had returned to the hotel. SLCPD says he was taken into custody without incident.

Police have not provided an update on either dog. At this time, they do not know the dogs’ names, ages, or breeds. Henry is charged with Aggravated Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury and Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.
