The Buffalo Police Department has announced an arrest in connection to a homicide on September 23, 2023. BPD reports that D District officers responded to a call about a suspicious incident in Shaffer Village around 10:45 a.m. on September 23, 2023.

Police say officers tracked blood and footprints in the hallway to a body inside an apartment. Homicide detectives initiated an investigation and say they identified a suspect. Police say the suspect was arrested in the 100 block of Hertel Avenue on November 9, 2024.

46-year-old Adalberto Bermudez is charged with one count of Murder in the Second Degree. Police have identified the victim as 39-year-old Jose Barreto-Gonzales.
