The US Marshals have arrested murder suspect Kode McNair in Memphis TN

The US Marshals announced in a press release that it had arrested a murder suspect in Memphis, Tennessee. Authorities say 25-year-old Kode McNair was arrested on November 6, 2024.

McNair was wanted for Capital Murder and Tampering With/Fabricating Evidence in Mississippi. Authorities say John Anthony “Jay” Tarvin was fatally shot at a residence on Presley Drive in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on January 3, 2020.

On October 19, 2022, a warrant was issued for McNair in connection to the fatal shooting. USMS Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force adopted the case on September 24, 2024. The GCRFTF says it obtained information that McNair was in Memphis.

It contacted the Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force which began a search for McNair. Authorities say they tracked McNair to a residence in the 6200 block of Thistlebrook in Memphis where he was taken into custody without incident.

McNair is being held at the Shelby County Detention Center while awaiting extradition to Mississippi.
