The Birmingham Police Department reports that its detectives have obtained arrest warrants in connection to the murder of Amauria Caffey. The victim was fatally shot in the 1600 block of 5th Street North on November 4, 2024.
BPD has identified the suspect as 21-year-old Malik Farris of Trussville. BPD says the investigation indicated that the shooting stemmed from an altercation earlier in the day involving the victim’s family member and another person.
Farris is charged with Murder, Theft of Property 1st Degree, and Criminal Mischief 1st Degree. BPD says the latter charges are related to the actions of the suspect after the shooting. Farris is being held in the Jefferson County Jail after turning himself in.
