The Decatur Police Department says it is investigating the shooting of a motorcyclist early Sunday morning. DPD reports that its officers responded to a report of a shooting near the 1800 block of 6th Avenue Southeast around 1:09 a.m. on November 3, 2024.

Police say officers found a motorcyclist suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to UAB Hospital where he is reportedly in critical condition. DPD confirms that one male was detained for questioning.

Authorities believe both individuals were southbound on 6th Avenue Southeast and involved in an apparent road rage incident. DPD says no arrests have been made at this time.
