The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office reports that a Burlington, North Carolina man is behind bars on one count of Felony Incest of a Child and five counts of Felony Statutory Rape. ACSO Major Crimes Division began investigating following a report of an alleged sexual assault on October 29, 2024.

Authorities say the alleged assault was believed to have occurred in southern Alamance County. Detectives say they found probable cause to bring charges against 56-year-old Paul Anthony Layton.

On October 30, 2024, authorities took Layton into custody. Layton was booked into the Alamance County Jail where he remains.
