The Del Rio Police Department has announced the arrests of two men in connection to a shooting in the 800 block of East Gutierrez Street on October 20, 2024. DRPD says it received a 911 call regarding shots fired around 6:21 p.m.

A 27-year-old male victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso and the low leg area, according to authorities. The victim was transported to a San Antonio hospital where he remains in stable condition.

DRDP says video footage assisted the investigation and revealed that two male suspects were involved. Authorities say 21-year-old Damian Chavez was arrested on October 20, 2024. Chavez is charged with Attempted Murder and booked into the GEO Correctional Facility. He was later charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Deadly Conduct Discharge Firearm.

Authorities say 21-year-old Humberto Meza Jr. was identified as a second suspect. Arrest warrants were served on Meza on October 25 without incident. He is charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Deadly Conduct Discharge Firearm.
