A 29-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting on November 25, 2023, in Peoria County, Illinois. Robert L. Hunter Jr. turned himself in on December 2, 2023, at the Peoria Police Department.

Peoria police responded to the 600 block of East Frye Avenue in response to two Shot Spotter alerts. Responding officers found a male gunshot victim inside a residence. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Having a prior felony conviction, Hunter Jr. was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon. Detectives have identified Hunter Jr. as a suspect in the fatal shooting. Hunter Jr. was released with a Notice To Appear.
