According to a social media post from the Knoxville Police Department, Jesse Bailey Jr. is now in custody. Police say Bailey turned himself in at the Public Safety Complex this afternoon. Earlier today, authorities identified the suspect and victim from a deadly shooting on Lula Powell Drive.

At approximately 10:45 AM on December 3, 2023, KPD officers responded to the 700 block of Lula Powell Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a man inside an apartment with at least one gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

He was later identified as 35-year-old Howard Jordan of Knoxville. Homicide Unit detectives identified Jesse Bailey Jr. as a possible suspect in the case. Authorities say Bailey allegedly shot at Jordan and two other individuals who were inside the apartment.

Bailey is facing charges of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, and employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony in connection to the Sunday morning shooting at the Arbor Place Apartments.
