Update – Kearney Police say the victim in the shooting at 1815 7^th Avenue has passed away. On October 25, 2024, KPD was notified that the 62-year-old shooting victim passed away at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital.

The suspect, Karen Geisler, remains in custody at the Buffalo County Jail.

Original – The Kearney Police Department reports that a 56-year-old woman is behind bars in connection to a shooting on Sunday. KPD says uniform patrol officers responded to a shooting at 1815 7th Avenue around 2:10 p.m. on October 20, 2024.

Authorities say the suspect was immediately located outside and taken into custody. Authorities say they found the victim inside. KPD has identified the suspect as 56-year-old Karen Geisler of Kearney.

Police say the victim is a 62-year-old man who lives at that residence. The victim was transported to CHI Good Samaritan Hospital with life-threatening injuries. KPD says Geisler was booked into the Buffalo County Jail on charges of First-Degree Assault and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony.
