The Newport Police Department says it is investigating a shooting incident that injured two people just before 2 a.m. on Sunday. NPD says its officers responded to the area of 8th and Isabella in reference to a shooting around 1:47 a.m. on October 20, 2024.

Authorities say a group of individuals was leaving a bar when they were involved in an altercation. At some point during the altercation, the suspect fired a gun, according to authorities.

Police say two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries and the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. NPD believes this is an isolated incident. No other details are available.
