The Wichita Police Department says a murder suspect has been arrested in Mexico and is undergoing extradition proceedings. WPD reports that Eric Gonzalez-Gutierrez was apprehended in Mexico.
Authorities say the suspect was initially arrested on July 16 on charges of First-Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon in connection to the homicide of Aron Lara. Gonzalez-Gutierrez was released on bond.
Authorities say Gonzalez-Gutierrez removed his ankle monitor on July 21. He was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service in Mexico. WPD says it is working closely with the U.S. Marshals to facilitate his extradition to Wichita, Kansas.
