The San Francisco Police Department has announced an arrest in connection to two violent attacks on senior citizens. SFPD says the victims include a 90-year-old man and a disabled man.
Around 10:19 a.m. on October 15, the suspect allegedly attacked a 90-year-old man on a Muni bus in the area of Bryant and 3rd Streets. Authorities say the suspect struck the victim in the head multiples times and kicked the victim after he fell to the ground.
The suspect fled. The victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The second incident occurred around 12:30 p.m.. SFPD says several witnesses reported seeing a suspect shove a 68-year-old man who uses a walker at Cyril Magnin and Eddy Street at Hallidae Plaza.
The victim fell and struck his head on the ground. The second victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was apprehended following a foot pursuit. SFPD says the suspect was identified as 27-year-old Jahad Antonie who was booked on charges of Resisting or Delaying Arrest, Elder Abuse, Assault Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury, and numerous warrant violations.
For the earlier attack, he is charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury, Battery Against an Operator, Drive, or Passenger on a Bus, Elder Abuse, and Inflicting Great Bodily Injury on a Person who is 70 Years of age or Older.
