Vancouver Police have announced the arrest of 40-year-old Massimo Rosario Falvo who is charged with one count of Aggravated Assault. Authorities confirm that Falvo remains in custody at this time.

Just before 9 a.m., the 35-year-old female victim was walking near the cruise ship terminal at Canada Place when she was violently assaulted by a stranger. Authorities say the woman was repeatedly punched and kicked in the face.

The victim suffered multiple injuries that required medical attention at an area hospital. Sergeant Steve Addison specified that the suspect and victim did not know each other and had no prior interaction before the attack.

Witnesses called 911. Patrol officers obtained video of the suspect. Flavo was later taken into custody at a residential building near East Pender Street and Columbia Street.
