Update – The Austin Police Department confirms that Sherles Gregorio Machado-Hernandez has been taken into custody. APD says the suspect was apprehended in the 900 block of Fairfield Drive in North Central Austin this evening.

The suspect will be booked into the Travis County Jail.

Original – The Austin Police Department is currently investigating a double homicide that prompted an Amber Alert. APD says its officers responded to a double homicide in the 1800 block of Burton Drive on Monday morning.

Two individuals were found deceased inside a vehicle. The victims are described as a male and a female. Authorities say the victims suffered apparent gunshot wounds. The deceased female had three children who were unaccounted for.

An Amber Alert was issued but the children have since been located safely. No weapons were recovered. APD has identified the suspect as Sherles Gregorio Machado-Hernandez. APD warns that the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
