The Knoxville Police Department says its detectives are currently searching for the suspect who shot a man on I-40 East near the Holston River Bridge on Saturday evening.

Just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, KPD says its officers responded to the location where a Ford F-150 had crashed into the center median. The driver suffered at least one gunshot wound and was transported to the UT Medical Center with critical injuries.

KPD says a man was witnessed running from the truck. The man was detained by responding officers and questioned. No arrests have been made.

Authorities say detectives are currently investigating a report of an altercation involving the truck and the occupants of a white Jeep which allegedly fled the scene.
