The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office reports that it found a gunshot victim early Saturday morning. Early October 12, 2024, a body was found on Byas Road. Dispatch received a 911 call just before 10 a.m. on Saturday that reported an unconscious person lying near a home on Byas Road.

SCSO says its deputies responded to the scene and found the body. Authorities say the victim had been shot and a vehicle parked nearby belonged to the victim. Sheriff Anthony Dennis confirmed the shooting may be related to another shooting incident on Duffie Drive around 2 a.m. on Saturday.
