The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a woman in connection to a shooting in unincorporated Wonder Lake on October 10, 2024. Around 11:05 a.m. on October 10, deputies responded to the 8900 block of East Tryon Grove Road for reports of two gunshot victims.

At the scene, officers found a male suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. A female, Aneta Marsek, was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. The male victim was flown to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in critical condition.

Aneta was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. MCSO announced that Marsek is now charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Aggravated Domestic Battery, and two counts of Obstructing Justice.
