The Columbia Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting. Around 8:11 a.m. on October 10, 2024, CPD officers responded to a report of shots heard in the 1900 block of Boyd Lane.

At the scene, responding officers found a vehicle that had crashed into a wooded area. CPD says an unconscious male was found at the scene. The male victim was taken to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Traquan Reed of Columbia, Missouri. CPD confirms the shooting is being investigated as a homicide. Suspects are still outstanding. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 573-875-8477.
