East Moline Police arrest father for child abuse of three-month-old infant

The East Moline Police Department is investigating a serious incident involving a three-month-old infant. EMPD reports that the child was transported to St. Francis Medical Facility in Peoria, Illinois on October 3, 2024 in critical condition.

The Illinois Department of Child and Family Services alerted EMPD that there were injuries suspected to have been caused by abuse. EMPD says the incident occurred in the 4500 block of 7th Street at the Fox Pointe Apartments.

Detectives from EMPD investigated the situation and confirmed that the infant suffered serious, life-threatening injuries. Detectives say the injuries were suspicious in nature. Detectives allege that the infant’s father, Damontinez D. Pierre, was responsible for the injuries.

The Rock Island County State’s Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Pierre on October 8 for Aggravated Battery of a Child. Pierre has been arrested. He is currently being held in custody. The infant is no longer in critical condition but remains hospitalized.
