The Federal Way Police Department has announced the arrest of a murder suspect in connection to the fatal shooting of a 2-year-old. Just before 10 a.m. on April 4, 2024, FWPD officers responded to a shooting at the IHOP in the 100 block of Southwest Campus Drive.
A short time later, police received a call from St. Francis Hospital saying a 2-year-old child was at the hospital with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he passed away.
FWPD detectives say they identified a 17-year-old male as the suspect in the shooting. The suspect was 16 at the time of the incident. On October 2, 2024, the suspect was arrested at his residence in Federal Way.
The suspect was booked into the King County Children and Family Justice Center for Murder 1st Degree. FWPD says it believes the King County Prosecutor’s Office will charge the juvenile as an adult.
