The Rockwall Police Department has announced the arrest of 21-year-old Brian Calder. Authorities say Calder has been arrested in connection to an attempted kidnapping on Friday.

Around 12:30 p.m. on October 4, 2024, RPD responded to a 911 call saying a man had attempted to abduct a 10-year-old female in the 1000 block of West Yellow Jacket Lane.

Authorities say the student had just exited the bus and was walking home. Several witnesses reportedly saw a man grab the child by her backpack. The girl was able to escape.

A witness followed the suspect as officers responded to the scene. At the scene, officers detained 21-year-old Brian Calder. Following an investigation, Calder was booked into the Rockwall County Detention Center on a charge of Attempted Kidnapping.
