A press release from the Iowa Department of Public Safety announced that a woman had been charged in relation to the death of her 3-year-old son. According to authorities, EMTs from the Battle Creek Community Ambulance Service responded to 500 Maple Street in reference to an unresponsive child around 7:55 PM on May 4, 2023. At the scene, 3-year-old Jordan Reed was found not breathing.

The child was first transported to Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove before being transferred to Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Jordan Reed was pronounced deceased on May 5, 2023. An investigation was conducted by the Ida County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner.

The investigation has led to the arrest of Jordan’s mother, 23-year-old Billie Mosier, who has been charged with one count of child endangerment resulting in death. Mosier turned herself into the Ida County Sheriff’s Office on November 30, 2023. Mosier has since been released after posting bond.
