The Calgary Police Service has announced charges against a man in connection to the sexual assault of a 7-year-old in Fish Creek Park in August. Authorities say that the victim was with her mother between 8 and 9 p.m. on August 1, 2024 at a popular public swimming area called the Ice Caves.

The mother was sitting on the bank of the creek with several other families and children while the victim was swimming. It is alleged that an unknown man sexually assaulted the victim while she was in the water.

As the victim was leaving with her mother, she told her about the sexual assault. The mother immediately contacted authorities to report the incident. 38-year-old Aaron Michael Bolton has been charged with Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference with a child under the age of 16.

Bolton is scheduled to appear in court on October 22, 2024.
