Leesburg Police investigating shooting involving 87-year-old

Update – The Leesburg Police Department has announced the arrests of 22-year-old Kenneth D. Bailey and 22-year-old Craig A. Stevenson Jr. in connection to the fatal shooting of 87-year-old Clarence Ervin.

The victim was shot on September 28. Around 9:30 p.m. on October 6, 2024, LPD says it was notified that the victim had succumbed to his injuries. On October 11, 2024, Bailey and Stevenson were arrested.

They are charged with Capital Murder and Aggravated Battery on a Person over 65. A third person allegedly involved has also been identified. LPD says detectives are working with the State Attorney’s Office to obtain an arrest warrant for the third suspect.

Original – The Leesburg Police Department is currently investigating a shooting involving a 87-year-old. LPD says it is seeking public assistance regarding the shooting that occurred on September 28, 2024.

Two videos have been released. One video captures the scene. The second shooting shows three suspects approaching the area. Around 2:40 p.m. on September 28, 2024, officers responded to a shooting at the Citgo gas station at 2101 West Main Street.

At the scene, officers found out that three suspects had approached a vehicle. Two suspects remained on the passenger side while the third suspect approached the driver who was seated inside.

During a confrontation, the driver was shot. The suspects fled on foot. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he underwent surgery. Anyone with information should call LPD at 352-787-2121 or Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
