The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced multiple arrests following a shooting incident in Cheneyville, Louisiana. RPSO reports that deputies responded to the 1000 block of Boeuf Avenue on September 16 to assist the Cheneyville Police Department with a report of shots being fired in the area.
At the scene, deputies found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to an area hospital suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. Detectives believe there was an altercation between two sets of people when gunfire erupted.
Detectives say they identified the suspects as 19-year-old Elias Lamar Perry, 29-year-old Melvin D. Pye Jr., and 24-year-old Makal Rashawn Neal. Arrest warrants were obtained for all three suspects.
On September 17, the suspects were located and taken into custody without incident. The suspects were booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Elias Perry is charged with Obstruction of Justice, Criminal Conspiracy, and Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. He is being held on a $310,000 bond.
Pye is charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. He was released the following day on a $250,000 bond. Neal was charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. He remains behind bars on a $250,000 bond.
