The Seattle Police Department says its detectives are currently investigating an armed robbery and shooting at a Rainier Valley smoke shop. SPD reports that its officers responded to a robbery in progress in the 6300 block of Rainier Avenue South around 2:26 a.m. on Friday.
Callers reported hearing bursts of automatic gunfire. The suspects broke the front entrance using one their vehicles before stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of product. The owner was notified by phone and responded to the store.
At the store, the owner confronted the suspects who fired at him and hit his vehicle multiple times. The victim returned fire before the suspects fled in three getaway vehicles. SPD says one of the vehicles was seen driving westbound on South Graham Street before crashing on the South Albro Place and I-5 overpass.
The occupants fled from the vehicle on foot. Authorities searched the suspects to no avail. At this time, no arrests have been made. SPD says it has collected 35 shell casings, ballistic evidence, latent print evidence, and video evidence.
