Napa Police takes Baltazar Rangel Juarez into custody in double murder

The Napa Police Department has announced the arrest of 28-year-old Baltazar Rangel Juarez on two counts of Murder. On September 26, 2024 around 9:45 a.m., the Napa Central Dispatch received a report of a shooting in the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue.

At the scene, responding patrol officers found an adult female victim and an adult male victim outside of a residence suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Major Crimes Task Force responded to investigate. The Napa Major Crimes Task Force reportedly identified the suspect within hours. Around 1:30 p.m., an officer with NPD witnessed the person in question driving a vehicle near the intersection of Juarez and 2nd Street.

The officer attempted to stop the suspect’s vehicle, but the suspect ignored the officer and fled. The suspect drove his vehicle into Kennedy Park where it became disabled. NPD officers and members of the Napa Sheriff’s Office responded to try to take the suspect into custody.

The suspect reportedly refused to exit the vehicle and armed himself with a vehicle. NPD reports that the suspect suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect received medical aid before being taken into custody.

Baltazar Rangel Juarez was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
