The Birmingham Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting at the Big Boy Convenience Store at 2714 Pearson Avenue Southwest. BPD reports that West Precinct officers responded to a person shot call at the aforementioned location just before 5 p.m.

At the scene, officers found an unresponsive adult male outside the store. The man was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to authorities. Birmingham Fire & Rescue transported the victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Authorities believe the victim was involved in an armed confrontation with a separate adult male. During the confrontation, shots were fired and the victim was hit. BPD believes the incident may have stemmed from an ongoing personal issue between the victim and the other man.
