Update – CMPD reports that its officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon on East Arrowood Road around 7:25 p.m. on Sunday. Around 7:28 p.m., Real Time Crime Center detectives identified a possible suspect who may have been involved in the prior call.

Officers initiated a traffic stop in the 200 block of East Arrowood Road around 7:29 p.m. when a suspect allegedly produced a handgun leading to an exchange of gunfire. At 7:30 p.m., officers issued an urgent call for service.

CMPD says the preliminary information indicates that one officer was struck and transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. A second officer was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures.

The suspect was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Authorities say a firearm was recovered at the scene.

Original – CMPD has provided an update on the officer-involved shooting on Arrowood Road. CMPD reports that Steele Creek Division officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the 200 block of East Arrowood Road.

At this time, it is believed that officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle when an exchange of gunfire occurred. An officer was struck and the suspect was struck. Both were transported to an area hospital.

CMPD confirms a firearm was covered at the scene.
