The Henderson Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting on Saturday. Just before 4 a.m. on September 21, 2024, HPD and Fire Departments responded to the 1000 block of Wellness Place for a reported shooting.

HPD says multiple 911 calls reported hearing gunshots and a man lying on the ground. Detectives believe that a 33-year-old male was approached by an unknown man with a firearm.

The unknown man allegedly demanded the 33-year-old man’s cellphone and wallet. The 33-year-old discharged multiple rounds from his firearm fearing for his life. The unknown male received lifesaving treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The man who fired the shots remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, according to HPD. Detectives have assumed control of the investigation. No other details are available at this time. The case marks the sixth homicide in Henderson for 2024.
