The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office was involved in an officer-involved shooting on Thursday night. CCSO reports that its deputies responded to a residence on Hawthorne Drive for a family dispute just before midnight.

Once the deputy reached the scene, the male allegedly barricaded himself in a bedroom and threatened to shoot officers. Deputies opened the door to make entry into the bedroom. Authorities say that the man advanced toward deputies with a weapon in his hand at this point.

Deputies fired their weapons hitting the male. Aid was immediately rendered. The man was transported to an Atlanta hospital. At this time, his condition is not known. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called to investigate the shooting.
